Cup Competitions
The Claude Rolt Shield
This competition was set up by Bourne Bowls Club in memory of Claude Rolt, a well-loved character and long time member of the club who died in 2016.
The Shield is played for by Bourne, Carlby, Ryhall and Market Deeping Bowls Clubs. The winning club is presented with the Shield and the losing club with a wooden spoon!
Bourne won in 2019
The Willoughby Cup
Pairs (x4) – three woods – 21 ends – EBA Rules – 4 foot rule
This trophy was presented to Corby Glen Bowls Club in 1967 by Lady Ancaster. Since then it has been fought over annually, in a competition administered by Corby Glen, by clubs in the Grantham / Stamford area.
Bourne has a good record of winning this trophy although there has been a recent spell of several years where we were unsuccessful. However this was turned around in 2019 when Bourne won a close game against Great Gonerby Bowls Club in the final.
Boor & Wainwright Shield 2019

Club Competitions
Each year we have knockout competitions between members of the Club. The winners for 2021 were:
Men’s Singles – Chris Davidson
Ladies Singles – Val Thompson
Men’s Pairs – David Donovan & John Pearson
Ladies Pairs – Lynne Maclean & Val Thompson
Mixed Pairs – Steve Froy & Alec March
Ron & Gwen Neal Shield
3 players – 2 bowls – 5 ends – EBF Rules
Everyone has a score card draw for teams. Play 5 ends keep your own score (as a running total like a league game) plus opposition score. Draw for teams again and repeat. It is 4 x 5 ends (20 ends on score card) then the individual with highest total ( i.e. shots for ) on card wins. In the event of a draw the lowest opposition score (shots against) on the card would win.
2019 winner – David Ashby
