Bourne Town Bowls Club
Bourne Town Bowls Club is mixed membership club and has a full programme of matches and competitions as well as regular fun bowling days and social events.
We always welcome new members, whether experienced bowlers or new to the game.
New bowlers are encouraged to try their hand at bowling before committing themselves to join as full members or spending on bowls equipment.
We are a friendly club running our very popular “Roll-Up games“ every Wednesday and Saturday afternoons at 1.45pm. For £2.00 you get a great game of bowls plus a half time cup of tea and biscuit.
If you are of a competitive nature we run teams in the following local leagues – Stamford, Spalding and Peterborough.
Our bowling green holds 6 rinks and is well maintained by our devoted greenkeeper. Our season runs from mid-April to the end of September depending on the weather!
During the closed season many members get together and arrange indoor bowling sessions in Spalding.
A Little History
There have been two bowls clubs in Bourne and the present one dates back to 1953, originally the Abbey Road Bowls Club but changing its name to the Bourne Town Bowls Club in 1979 soon after their present pavilion was built.
New members were also accepted from Bourne Abbey Lawn Bowling Club which was formed in 1922 but was forced to close after their land adjoining the Abbey Church was chosen as the site for a new vicarage in 1986.
